Skadarlija, a place where time has no meaning. Walk the length of this cobbled street and time will stand still. Stop for a moment, and it'll subtly shift you backwards to the days when actors, & writers would gather to eat, drink, and be inspired by its beauty and atmosphere. Turn around, and it'll move you forward, leaving you breathless, imagining the evening ahead, and losing yourself in the night yet to come....
Located on the confluence of the Sava and Danube rivers, Belgrade (Beograd) is the capital of Serbia and lies at the heart of the Eastern gateway from Europe to Asia. With a history dating back as far as the Vinča culture of the 6th Miillenium BC, it can reasonably be said that to know the history of Belgrade is to know the history of Europe.
As a photographer I think of each photo as a single moment in a greater whole. The images contained within this site can therefore only ever be considered a small reflection of the life and history of one of Europe's most cosmopolitan cities. Belgrade is a historical city, but it is also a modern city, a vibrant city, and a city filled with life and culture. It has given me a great deal and through my photography I hope I give at least a little back.
